The inspiration for this cake came from "russianromance" of flourgirl2007, Jacque cake with a ball on top and Fran's Burgundy wedding cake with stunning roses on top.

Dogwood Blossom Wedding Cake with Cupcakes
A 12", 8" and 6" triple height wedding cake decorated with fondant Dogwood blooms, royal icing branches and hand cut fondant birds painted with gold lustre.
I'm trying to stay one step ahead of the game and make some display cakes for the wedding fayres I have in November (before the baby comes and I don't have any time!). This is my first one, an oriental inspired design that I wanted to look soft, romantic & stylish. This is probably my favourite thing I've ever made and I admit I'll probably never be able to face dismantling it to reuse the dummies!
The cupcakes are vanilla with pink vanilla buttercream, & chocolate with vanilla cream cheese frosting

Wedding Cake
Would you ever guess this wedding cake is fake? Yup! I had to make a last minute change and made the wedding cake out of rice krispies.
I saw a story about fake wedding cakes on the Today Show a long time ago and mentioned it to Rodney and Kim. Since their wedding was outdoors in Ramona, where it can get really hot in the summer, I thought a fake cake would be a good option. So a week before the wedding, Kim asked if I could go ahead and make the fake cake for display. I made their real cake but kept it in the refrigerator until it was time to cut and serve it to the guests.
Before I covered the "faux" cake in fondant, I cut out a rice krispie wedge from the bottom tier and stuck a real red velvet cake slice (without the cream cheese frosting) in its place. I marked two lines on the fondant so Rodney and Kim would know where the real cake was at cake-cutting time.
If the rest of my cousins decide to get married in the summer, I'm definitely making them a fake wedding cake ;-) And I'll use styrofoam next time.
I decorated the cake with satin ribbon and handmade fondant pearls. The florist added the flowers.

Chinese Wedding Traditions
Red at Chinese Weddings
Red is the color theme of traditional Chinese weddings. It symbolizes love, joy, and prosperity. A Chinese brides wedding gown is often red, as are the wedding invitations, gift boxes, and envelopes for gifts. Even the homes of the bride and groom are decorated in red on the wedding day.
Chinese Pre-wedding events
Before the wedding a Chinese bride goes into seclusion with her closest friends to symbolically mourn the loss of her family and friends. Often the grooms family will bring wedding gifts to the brides house in red boxes and baskets. One of the gifts will contain "uang susu" or "milk money". Other gifts will be personal gifts for the bride. Three days before the wedding the bride’s family will go to the grooms house with gifts for his family.
Chinese Wedding Day
The day a Chinese wedding is carefully chosen to line up with astrological signs. Chinese weddings also start on the half-hour so that the wedding can start on an upswing, while the hands of the clock are moving up.
On the wedding day the groom is dressed by his parents. The groom will arrive at the brides house with a gift of cash to give the brides friends for letting her go. Sometimes the wedding couple will serve tea to both sets of parents to symbolically ask permission to get married. The bride and groom then leave for the wedding sight together.
Chinese Marriage Ceremony and Reception
A Chinese wedding ceremony is normally only attended by the couples’ immediate families. After the ceremony and before the reception the bride will host a tea ceremony for her in-laws. The couple usually goes to get the formal wedding pictures before they go the their reception.
A Chinese wedding reception is a very elaborate affair. There is normally a welcoming speech by a MC. Directly after the speech is the cake cutting. A traditional Chinese wedding cake is huge, with many layers. The lays symbolize the couples climb to success. The couple will cut the cake from the bottom to the top. The bride and groom will feed each other a piece of cake. Then they will cut a piece of cake for the parents and grandparents. The bride and groom will feed each of the pieces of cake to the parent or grandparent together. Sometimes wedding toast are given. The wedding guest will then great the bride and groom and the parents. Elaborate Chinese weddings include a 9 or 10 course meal and music. Fantacy inspired Wedding Headpiece - Bridal - Flower Girl
This beautiful headpiece was inspired by fairy tales. It's delicate and beautiful and works great for a young bride looking to have a unique fantasy like wedding or even a flower girl. It's made to fit an adult head but may be adjusted for a child as you can see in the pictures.

The groom's boutenniere
My great-grandmother raised peacocks, and we were tending to the greens and blues, so it made sense. The tie came from Filene's Basement, the shirt is Café Coton, bought on vacation, and the suit is Burberry, bought second-hand on Newbury Street in Boston. There is a subtle blue-green stripe in the brown suit that doesn't show very well here.
